Since its humble beginnings in the 1970’s Waipuna Hotel was then transformed into Waipuna International Hotel and Conference Centre in time for the 1990 Commonwealth Games.
Waipuna Road was one of the busiest roads in New Zealand with over 40,000 vehicle movements per day and in 1998 saw the opening of the South Eastern Arterial Route taking traffic away from Waipuna Road improving access to the hotel.
In 1997 we dropped the “International” and became simply Waipuna Hotel and Conference Centre. Waipuna has had the privilege of having the same General Manager since 1993 and of the 75 full-time staff, 19 have served for more than 10 years.
Owned by the Mount Wellington Licensing Trust, all profits from the hotel go back into community organisations. The Mount Wellington Charitable Trust gifts more than $1million each year to the community.
Waipuna Hotel and Conference Centre is now an internationally acclaimed, fully integrated hotel, conference and wedding complex. Hardly a family in Auckland has not attended a function, conference or wedding at this iconic Auckland venue.
